Companion Handbook: is Aniimo's pass worth it?

The Companion Handbook is Aniimo's seasonal progression pass. It has a free track open to everyone and a paid track. Our launch advice: play about ten hours before buying — a season's content is easier to judge once you know your own pace.

What the Companion Handbook is

It is Aniimo’s seasonal progression pass: you earn pass experience by playing and unlock reward tiers.

As in most games of the genre, it splits into:

  • a free track, open without paying;
  • a paid track, adding rewards at the same tiers.

The economic context

Two things to keep in mind when deciding:

  • Creatures do not come from random pulls. According to the producer, you catch them. The pass is therefore not a back door to rare Aniimo.
  • Monetisation is aimed at cosmetics. That is what the studio states.

In other words: nothing today suggests you need to pay to stay competitive.

Deciding without regret

Three questions to ask yourself:

  1. Will I play regularly all season? A pass pays off over time, not over a weekend.
  2. Do the paid rewards actually interest me? If it is mostly cosmetics, it is a comfort purchase, not a power one.
  3. Is progress credited retroactively? If yes, waiting costs nothing. If no, buying early has value. Verify in game.

What we will add here

Tier-by-tier contents, exactly what each track holds and the price per platform all need in-game verification. They will be added with their recording date — rather than copied from elsewhere unchecked.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Companion Handbook mandatory?

No. A free track exists, and the studio says monetisation is aimed at cosmetics. Nothing suggests you must pay to progress.

How much does it cost?

We are not quoting a price until we have verified it in game, in each platform's store.

Buy early or late in the season?

Buying later is lower risk: you know whether you play enough to finish the track. Do check whether progress already made is credited retroactively.
