How to install Aniimo on PS5: finding the game, storage and first launch

Aniimo is free on the PlayStation Store, PS5 and PS5 Pro only, and it installs on the console’s internal SSD only. On first launch, link your Aniimo Pass right away if you already have one: the linking popup only shows up once.

Finding the game on the PlayStation Store

Aniimo has its own PlayStation Store page. It lists the game as:

  • Free, with optional in-game purchases.
  • PEGI 7.
  • Online play required.
  • Remote Play supported.

Before you download

According to the official FAQ:

  • PS5 and PS5 Pro only. There is no PS4 version.
  • Internal SSD only. The game can’t be installed on external storage.
  • Keep at least 30 to 35 GB free.

If you already have an Aniimo Pass, for instance because you play on PC or took part in the web events with your email address, link it on your very first launch.

The linking popup only appears the first time a PSN account logs into the game. It’s your only chance to attach an existing Aniimo Pass. If you skip it, a new Aniimo Pass is created for your PSN account, and it can no longer be linked to your existing one.

Your server is picked for you

On PS5, your server is assigned automatically based on your PSN account’s region. A French account, for example, goes to the Europe server; the official FAQ has the full country table.

Data is independent from one server to another: your progress only follows you on the same server.

What about PS Plus?

The official FAQ says PS Plus is not needed to buy and claim pre-order packs. The store also offers a free “PlayStation Plus Pack” add-on.

For playing the game itself, the FAQ says nothing more. We’ll update this as soon as there’s official information.
