1. A Fragrant Journey: Forest of Falling Stars

Legend has it that the Forest of Falling Stars is beloved by the stars themselves, that the god of wind once descended here, and that new shoots on dead branches have grown into a great tree that crystallizes starlight.

Outside the entrance to the Celestis outpost, Dael is pacing. He is a traveling perfumer: he moves from place to place, gathers ingredients and turns them into perfumes, like souvenirs of each trip. He loves Celestises and often came to play with them when he was younger. About fifteen days ago, he saw a light here, as if the great Starine Tree had been struck by lightning. Worried, he rushed over… and couldn’t get in. He has been hesitating ever since.

You go in for him. The “protection” that sealed the outpost is gone, and you find out what happened: a Stellarys had been living among those little gluttons. The light was it; it left, and the protection went too. Dael takes the news in: he never imagined these Celestises could turn into powerful, mysterious Stellarys. He had already given up, long ago, on taking a Celestis along with him: they are happier with their family, and he doesn’t speak their language. Maybe, he says, home is a place meant to be left one day.

You give him a Treasured Large Starine. He stops, blends a perfume he calls Peace of Mind, gives it to you and sets off for his next stop — without going in to see the Celestises: knowing they are fine is enough. The closing text ties his feeling to Starry’s, a name the chapter itself doesn’t explain any further.

Head to the Celestis outpost in the Forest of Falling Stars: someone out front looks very anxious (clue “The Perfumer Looks Anxious”).
Talk to Dael, then explore the Celestis outpost.
Come back out to Perfumer Dael and tell him what happened.
Give him the Treasured Large Starine.
Say goodbye to Dael.
