The setting: Astra, Idyll and the Vein
Astra is a modern city built on technology, where humans and Aniimo live side by side; Idyll is the continent Astrans explore. The Polaris Institute sends expeditions there, and its Pathfinding Department trains the people who go into the field.
Idyll lives to the rhythm of the Vein, an energy network whose Branches — enormous dandelions — are its symbol. You activate Blooms to travel, and ancient cube-shaped Sanctums, built by people long ago, can repair the Vein. Each territory was once ruled by an Aeon, a huge Aniimo able to grant lumin power to other Aniimo; those who receive that blessing become Guardians of the land.
The expedition’s target is the Prismana Flow: a rare, spectacular phenomenon that gives the Aniimo caught in it special forms and powers.
Chapter 1 — An observer falls into ancient ruins
You arrive in Idyll as a special observer, planning to livestream your adventure. Your guide Nicole teaches you to catch, and Starfall Valley is your playground. Then your terminal, BINI #9, picks up unidentified data, goes haywire and gets swallowed by a huge ancient cube that pulls you in as well.
Deep in the ruins, murals show humans and Aniimo. The sun and moon symbols come alive and turn into two small, talking Aniimo: Helion for Sol, and Lunara for Lun. You accept one of their blessings. The cube wakes up, Instructor Lita arrives as backup, and it is by Twining with your new companion that you drive it back. Exhausted, the two Aniimo shrink again: yours stays with you, the other returns to sleep in the mural.
Back in Astra, Principal Oswen invites you to join the Polaris Institute. You enroll, become a full member of the expedition, and Dr. Lewis sends you off to Idyll. → Journey to Idyll
Chapter 2 — The Vein’s recognition
Your first mission: earn the Branch’s recognition by offering it Lumin Amber. As you leave the Outpost, an enormous winged Aniimo crosses the sky: nobody sees it except you and your companion, who finds a feather that fell near the Branch.
Next stop is Nimbus Fields, where the senior student Lana runs your introductory lesson: infiltrate an Emberpup family, clear a Sanctum trial, evolve your Emberpup, then defeat a Turbo. You become an official Institute student, your Elite Training begins, and an invitation arrives: Bloomville’s Bloom Festival. → Setting Out Again
Chapter 3 — Bloomville and the failed festival
On the road, every Aniimo is asleep: an over-strong incense, the work of the perfumer Sunia. In the village, in front of a bronze statue, the feather lights up and pulls you into a dream. The Aeon Aeolus introduces himself, tells you your ancient cube is the “Core”, and shows you what happened at the ruins: black-robed figures, carrying a copy of the cube, took the companion you did not choose out of the mural.
You learn the craft: gathering aromathysts from Dewies, having them refined, blending your own perfume. Elder Jaeger explains the festival: every ten years the Irisalis Irelia appears, flowers bloom, Prismana shines, and the Flutternym queen Velouria sometimes grants a blessing — as she did for Sunia ten years earlier.
On festival day, nothing happens. Irelia never comes. Velouria shows up on a rooftop to mock the ceremony, the village panics, and a devastated Sunia wants to leave Bloomville. You set off together to ask Velouria for answers. → Journey to Bloomville
Chapter 4 — The dreams of Lumenfly Valley
Getting into Velouria’s home takes an incense made from Sea of Flowers pollen. On the way, Sunia explains colorlessness: a century ago the Vein fractured, the world lost its colors, and children were born unable to perceive any. Irelia saved the land by giving it her colors back.
In the valley, dreams reveal Sunia’s past: born colorless, she prayed at the festival to see colors… and it was Snowy, her Iris, who prayed to give her its own. All Velouria did was link the two dreams. The dream blossoms also tell her history with Irelia: a young flower who wanted to gather every color so she could one day see the Prismana Flow, and a queen who followed her out of curiosity, then found her “boring” once Irelia gave up her dream to mend the Vein. → Flowers and Butterfly Shadows
Chapter 5 — The last Bloom Festival
Velouria agrees to take you to Irelia on one condition: recreating an ancient recipe once offered to the Aeons — a green spice from the Mistwoods, a blue one from Echoback Landing, a red one from the Russet Highlands. With every fragrance, Aeolus’s voice tells a piece of Irelia’s past.
On the Tideblossom Coast, under the Amethyst Tree, you find three mechanisms devouring Irelia’s colors. She tells you she was trapped by the black robes in a false Prismana vision ten days before the festival. More importantly, she explains what she has been doing for a hundred years: every “Bloom Festival” is a slightly deeper merging with the Vein, which slows the energy drain. This one will be the last.
She dances one final time: flowers bloom, Prismana lights up the sky, and Irelia turns into petals that return to the Vein. Velouria concludes that an Aniimo recognized by the Vein becomes a Guardian, and that Irelia will sleep for a long time. Bloomville keeps bringing flowers, Sunia leaves to look for a dream of her own, and a seedling grows at the heart of the Amethyst Tree. → Rainbow of the Ground
Alongside it — the Institute, the assessments and the Umbral Society
All this time, Elite Training raises your rank: each promotion sends you to face a senior student, from Grade II Student to Trailblazer. During the Zephyrus Landbridge assessment, the “Wendell” who greets you drops his disguise: he is one of the hooded figures. He talks about an organization, the Umbral Society, which wants to restore Idyll’s former glory, calls you and a mysterious “Saintess” the “twin moons” destined to light up the sky, and claims your missing companion is with her. Dr. Lewis, for his part, suspects a link between these assessments and a very old Idyllian custom. → Veinwalker Assessment
What version 1.0 leaves unresolved
- Where is your other companion? All you know is that it is alive, and said to be with the “Saintess”.
- Who is that “Saintess”? The game never says. One night scene near Irelia shows a black-robed girl praying for Sol and Lun to answer her; she vanishes before you can approach.
- Why does Prismana appear so often? Velouria offers a guess — a full Vein overflowing with energy — but nothing more.
- Will Aeolus return? He says he may appear again if the Vein recognizes you, and his voice is heard several times, but he never shows up in person.
- Will Irelia wake up? Aeolus states that Prismana will light up the world again and that “the little flower has already grown”.
