Best Break Aniimo: the BREAK role explained

Break is the most populated role in the game, with 26 species, and the most underrated. Breaking the BREAK gauge opens the window where everything else counts double — and it is the only damage channel the level gap never corrects. An under-levelled breaker stays useful.

Break is the most populated role in the game — 26 species out of 86 — and the one people pick least spontaneously. That is a mistake: it decides how long a fight actually lasts.

The top of the ranking

Why this role decides the fight

Every enemy has a BREAK gauge. While it holds, your damage splashes off its guard. Once emptied, the target becomes vulnerable, and two things happen at once:

  • Damage counts double, in the sense that the window is short and everyone piles into it.
  • Capture becomes realistic. It is the same window: break the gauge first, throw the Aniipod second. See how to catch an Aniimo.

The ranking’s weighting follows that logic: 50 % BREAK, 25 % ATK, 25 % total. Attack still counts, because a breaker that deals no damage lengthens the fight it is supposed to shorten.

The argument nobody uses

Here is the most useful fact on this page, and it comes from the game tables: the level gap never corrects BREAK damage. That coefficient is 1 across all 201 rows of the table, without exception — while every other damage channel is penalised the moment you drop below the target’s level.

Choosing your breaker

  • Read the BRK stat on the card, not the rank: that is what the weighting rewards.
  • Check the element. A misaligned breaker takes longer to crack the gauge.
  • Holy has no breaker at all. If your team is built around that element, you will have to look elsewhere — the full role-by-element split is in building a team.

And in a skill description, the BREAK tag marks a skill that chips the gauge. That is the signal to look for when comparing two Aniimo of the same role.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Break role for?

Emptying the enemy's BREAK gauge. Once empty, the target becomes vulnerable: that is the window where damage really lands, and also the one where capture works best.

Does the level gap affect BREAK?

No. The coefficient applied to BREAK damage is 1 whatever the gap, across all 201 rows of the game table. It is the only damage channel in that situation.

How many breakers are there?

26 species out of 86, making it the most populated role. Fire and Rock have five each; Holy has none.

How do I know whether a skill chips the gauge?

The game marks it in the skill description, with a BREAK tag.
