Nimbus Fields: what to do in Aniimo's first region

Activate the Breezy Plains Branch before anything else — it reveals both of the region's Blooms on the map. Only then go for the two Sanctums, the 48 chests and the two Alphas. Alpha Turbo does not fight like any other boss, and it is the one that gives you the region's Prismana.

It is the region everybody starts in, and the one everybody leaves fastest — usually before seeing all of it. Nimbus Fields carries 1,084 markers read from the game files, several of which exist nowhere else.

Nimbus Fields on the Idyll map: green meadows, rivers and the golden grove to the north-east

1. The Branch, before anything else

The zone’s landmark is called the Breezy Plains Branch. “Breezy Plains” is the game’s name for all fourteen regions together (“Earn Collection Badges in 14 areas of Breezy Plains”), and this Branch is the only one for the whole set. The game explains: “After you activate a Branch, you can reveal the Blooms across a large area and unlock a new map layer where Pathfinders can view area info.”

Do it first: it reveals the two fast-travel Blooms, Nimbus Fields and Freshsprout Hill, on the map. The mechanic is covered in maps and fast-travel Blooms.

2. The two Alphas, and why the second one is a special case

Alpha Geoclaw and Alpha Turbo both stand near the Nimbus Fields Bloom.

The game shows you the method on their markers. For Geoclaw:

During battle, the Alpha will unleash an Ice Prison to restrict the Pathfinder’s movement. Use Fire skills to destroy it quickly. When the Alpha uses Tunnel, ranged attacks cannot hit, but Pound skills can force it out.

Two requirements, then: Fire for the prison, and a Pound skill to dig it out. Without the second, the fight drags on with nothing you can do about it.

Turbo does not fight like a normal boss at all:

When Alpha Turbo takes flight, try luring it to charge through nearby Nimbi so they get stuck to it. When Alpha Turbo is carrying too many Nimbi, it will fall from the sky.

In other words, it is the wild Nimbi — 211 spawn points in the region, the densest population in the zone — that bring the boss down. You do not out-damage it; you weigh it down.

3. The two Sanctums

Chasing Clouds and First Spark. These are Elemancy puzzles: you apply an element to a piece of scenery to open the way. The general method is in exploring Idyll: Elemancy and Sanctums.

4. What there is to collect

The full count, category by category:

What you are afterHow manyHow that compares
Chests48—
Aniipods35—
Glide dandelions2424 of the game’s 34
Eggs19more than any other region
Dig spots17more than any other region
Lumin amber17—

The glide dandelions are worth pausing on: they get you height without a flying mount, and nearly all of them are here. That is what makes this region so easy to cross — and what you miss badly the moment you leave it.

As for resources, one is unique to the zone: Golden Turbo, three plants in the entire game, all in Nimbus Fields.

5. The Aniimo, and the one you never see in daylight

Eighteen species have spawn points here. The first four describe the region on their own: Nimbi (211), Iris (108), Hummin (88), Emberpup (60).

Three species have exactly one spawn point in the whole region: Glacy, Geodeback and Dreaple. They exist here, but counting on them would be a mistake — they are at home elsewhere.

6. The region’s Prismana

The Nimbus Fields Bloom attracts Turbo in its Prismana form. Every region has its own and it never changes: if Prismana Turbo is what you want, this is where you Nurture, and nowhere else.

Before you spend anything, read the mistakes to avoid while Nurturing — the most common one is expensive.

7. And the quest

Chapter 2, Setting Out Again, plays out in this region. Its summary and walkthrough are on the quest page.

The full species list, with spawn points and times, is on the Nimbus Fields page. To see the markers where they actually are, open the map framed on the region.

Frequently asked questions

What level is Nimbus Fields?

The map shows a level range of 6 to 16. It is the game's first region, the one chapter 2 takes you to.

How many Blooms are there in Nimbus Fields?

Two fast-travel Blooms: Nimbus Fields and Freshsprout Hill. On top of those, two underground Blooms — out of only three in the whole game.

What is the Nimbus Fields Prismana?

Turbo. The region's Bloom only ever attracts Turbo in Prismana form, and that never changes, so this is where you Nurture to get it.

How do you beat Alpha Turbo?

The game spells it out on the marker: when it takes flight, lure it into charging through the wild Nimbi. They stick to it, and once it is carrying too many, it falls out of the sky.

Where do you find Sparki in Nimbus Fields?

At night only. All thirty-one of its spawn points in the region are nocturnal. Switch to night from the functions menu instead of waiting for the cycle.
